Meet the Owner

Essies Animals is owned by Esmée van Sermond, whose passion for animals began with the aquarium hobby in late 2019. In late 2021, she discovered the fascinating world of reptiles, and what started as an interest quickly grew into a lifelong passion.

With the help of her parents, Esmée transformed her bedroom into a dedicated reptile room in 2021. Since then, the collection has continued to grow, both in size and in the variety of species.

Today, Essies Animals is run by Esmée with the support of her partner, J, who has been involved in the aquarium hobby since 2008. Together, they care for a wide variety of reptiles, fish, insects, and mammals such as ferrets, always putting animal welfare, responsible husbandry, and continuous learning first.
